AFTERCARE ADVICE
TATTOO AFTERCARE
Once you leave the studio, it is your responsibility to ensure that your new tattoo is looked after. The artist is no longer responsible for any infection, or problem you may have, if you do not take proper care of it.
Keep your tattoo wrapped for 1-2 hours, then remove the cling film and wash the tattooed area with soap and warm water (avoid heavily fragranced soaps) using just your hand - no washcloth. Leave to air dry, or pat dry with a disposable paper towel (e.g. kitchen roll). Do not use your bath towel.
Apply a thin layer of your desired aftercare product to the tattooed area, making sure there is no cream left on the surface. Do not use Vaseline, Savlon, or any cosmetic creams - always check with your artist what they recommend.
Apply the aftercare three times a day, for the next 2-3 weeks.
It is ok to shower with the new tattoo, however, do not have a bath, as you shouldn't fully submerge your new tattoo in water. Ensure to rinse off any shampoo, conditioner, or shower gel you may get on the tattooed area whilst showering.
Whilst healing, the tattoo may develop scabs and become itchy. Do not pick the scabs and do not scratch the tattoo, as this may ruin it.
No swimming, or using a sauna for the first two weeks after getting a new tattoo.

PIERCING AFTERCARE
Once you leave the studio, it is your responsibility to ensure that your new piercing is looked after. The piercer is no longer responsible for any infection, or problem you may have, if you do not take proper care of it.
If your piercing has been covered, remove the cover after 1-2 hours, then wash it with warm water to remove any blood.
Clean your new piercing three times a day: breakfast, lunch, and just before bed, for the next six weeks.
Use either a ready-made saline solution, or salt and warm water. (Two teaspoons of salt, in a mug of boiling hot water. Make sure the salt is fully dissolved and wait for the water to cool down.)
Push the jewellery so it sticks out all the way on one side of the piercing. Dip a cotton bud into the cleaning solution and use it to clean all the jewellery that is sticking out, and the actual piercing hole. Push the jewellery so it sticks out all the way on the other side of the piercing and use a fresh cotton bud dipped in the cleaning solution to clean the other side of the jewellery, which should now be sticking out, and the other side of the piercing hole.
After six weeks of cleaning the new piercing three times a day, you may then change the jewellery.
For oral piercings, clean the outside of the jewellery using the method described above, then gargle the solution to clean the part of the jewellery which is inside the mouth. Do not eat spicy foods (including spiced rum) for six weeks. If you are a smoker, ensure you are using alcohol-free mouthwash after every cigarette.
For navel piercings, ensure you sit straight and do not slouch over the piercing for six weeks. Also avoid stomach exercises and high-waisted jeans for six weeks.
For nipple piercings, ensure you are wearing padded or sports bras for six weeks and avoid anything lacey. Also refrain from chest exercises and ensure any active partners avoid the area for six weeks.
No swimming, or using a sauna, for the first six weeks after getting a new piercing.
